I was born at Daly River on the 22nd June 1958, where my father raised me. I attended primary school at St Francis Xavier and then did my secondary schooling at St John’s College, Darwin. I returned back to Daly River where I worked different jobs: Daly River is where I started painting art pieces for a school auction. I enjoy painting since I have been involved in family art. I have been involved in group exhibitions in Australia and in Singapore in which I attended in 2010. I am currently painting full time, I enjoy it as it allows me to tell my stories in my own way and it relaxes me.My father Harry Morgan, my mother Tyalmuty and my sisters & brothers know their country inside out. We have walked, hunted, played and survived the Northern outback of the NT.This painting depicts our journey from the mouth of the Daly River on to the Katherine area.
A large hill in the middle of the never never is one of the well-known landmarks that allows us to know where we are and where we must go to. Waterholes were sourced for drinking and bathing. Allowed us to hunt and gather food for our journey depending on the season.
We depended on travel to survive off the land. Most of our childhood was spent walking the land or travelling by canoe to reach our destination. Knowing the moon cycles and the seasons allowed our journey to fill us with rich and healthy food and a knowledge of our country and everything entailed in doing this. I have walked a long way smelt, tasted, seen, heard and felt many things that were once unknown to me
