Maisie took up painting in 2000 and was initially taught by her mother Monica Napaltjarri, she is the neice of Thomas, Walala, and Warlimpirrnga Tjapaltjarri. Maisie's spent time with the older women in her communtiy learning many of the old ways of painting. The designs she uses are often powerful geometric shapes and abstract markings traditionally decorated on shields and painted on the body or the ground for ceremonies.
