Maisie Campbell Napaltjarri
Country: Kintore, NT
: Maisie is a Pintubi artist who was born circa 1959 at Mount Liebig.
She grew up in Papunya where Geoffrey Bardon, who sparked the Western Desert Art movement, was her teacher and Maisie is very proud of this. Then Napaltjarri moved to Kintore, some 500km West of Alice in Pintubi country and married Barney Campbell Tjakamarra, a senior Papunya artist and had four children 2 sons & 2 daughters. Maisie began painting in the early 90’s whilst still influenced by her husband and dotting style of the Pintupi artists. She has developed her own style imaginative in her use of colours but still keeping with her culture. She is very enthusiastic about preserving her traditions and worries that these traditions will get lost to future generations. Maisie paints Her Father’s Country – Karku.
